New Lodge Room for Folkestone

The Garrison Eagle Lodge, Knights Chapter and Provincial Grand Lodge have now moved their meeting place to the Royal Cheriton public house, in Cheriton, Folkestone.  It is a very nice comfortable ground floor room which more than meet our needs and the Landlady & Landlord Gary & Elaine have given us a very warm welcome

It was a very sad day when we do had to leave the Guildhall public house, we have always been looked after there, but our hosts  decided to retire and because of certain new H & S. regulations which will come into force once they leave, the old lodge room will not be available for use. We all wish Gilly and Stuart a very happy retirement and we thank them for their hospitality over the past fifteen years.

Gilly and Stuart Greswell took over as Landlady and Landlord of the Guildhall Public House at the Bayle in Folkestone fifteen  years ago and they have hosted an R.A.O.B. lodge there since they first opened.

Currently the Garrison Eagle Lodge,  Provincial Grand Lodge and the Invicta Knights Chapter are meeting at the Guildhall but sadly this will come to an end at the end of March with Gilly and Stuart taking a well deserved retirement.

The members of the South East Kent Province invited Gilly and Stuart to attend  Bro Eddie Banks KOM presentation Evening dinner and the P.G.Primo Bro Jim Connor ROH presented them both with a retirement gift and the best wishes of all in the Province.

This picture is of members of the Fearnought Lodge No 6369 and was taken in 1933 outside a public House in Lydd. We have been informed by Grand Lodge that the Fearnought Lodge met at the Royal Oak, Lydd during the 1930's.

The member 4th from the left in the back row is the late Brother George Perry, his Granddaughter Mrs. Sue Swallow (See Guestbook) is trying to find out more about her late grandfather a WW1 veteran and his time in the R.A.O.B. The late George Perry lived with his wife Kate Florence Perry at their home in Renee Villas, Skinner Road, Lydd where sadly they were both killed by enemy action when their home was bombed on the 5th October 1040.

Anyone with more information on the late Brother George Perry or indeed anyone in the photo can contact me, Bro Harry Reid R.O.H.  P.G. Secretary.  This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
